Within its program for the year 2010.
WLI has conducted a workshop in Thi-Qar governorate
to study the draft of trafficking people Law and
providing protection for women and girls in Iraq on
Alhabuby hall with the attendance of more than 30
persons. The lecturer was Mr. muhamed khairy, master
in the college of law, he revealed the importance
and sensitivity of this issue, also he mentioned the
social aspect and the real need to spread a wide
culture in the society against the wrong traditions
that reduce woman affair.
Also he mentioned that Islam has honored
people and refuse to use then as goods that used in
trade.
Within it's program of the year 2010, WLI has
conducted a consultative workshop in Baghdad
Feb,27,2010 on the hall of oil cultural center to
study the draft of Trafficking people and providing
protection for women and girls in Iraq.
The workshop that headed by Dr.Sundus Abass was
attended by 35 persons. Dr. fahima kareem and Mr.
muhamed khairy were the lecturers of the session.
Reporters from Al zaman and Al bayan newspapers were
there also to cover the workshop.
Dr. Sundus started the workshop by giving a
summery about the issue of trafficking women and
violence based on gender.
Dr. fahima discussed with the audiences the
social dimensions of the phenomena of trafficking
women.
Then Mr. muhamed tried to explain the legal
prospective of this phenomena.

WLI has hold it's first consulting
meeting with the project "trafficking in women and
girls in Iraq" protection provided to women victims
of trafficking in view of the draft low on Sat.
Jan.30.2010 with the attendance of 18
participants/activists/lawyers and academics.
Starting wil's director reviewed the
efforts made by the group of the Iraqi organizations
that supported by NCA and number of International
and Arab experts during the years 2008_2009 then she
gave a summery about the main issues that have been
focused upon through these meeting to exchange
experiences beside the advantage of reviewing other
countries cases to deal with this phenomena then she
cleared the goal of this meeting within the project
Trafficking in women and girls in Iraq.
Dr.fahima made constrictive
presentation of the social Dimension for the
phenomena of Trafficking Iraqi women and girls for
the purpose of sexual exploitation/ she tried to
explain the necessity of studying this issue from
sociology prospective also she presented the
obstacles face holding a study based on statistics
because the government does not allow providing
experts with numbers.
After that /Dr. Mohamed presented
the legal aspect of this phenomena in Iraq and the
need for participation made by civil society
organizations especially women to participate in
having this law.
