Cultural Competition (2)
To ward deeper understanding to prevent
the GBV phenomena in three Iraqi governorates
(Baghdad, Basra and Thi-Qar) with the participation
of three local NGOs and the fund of support of
UNICEF.
The project aims at encouraging families
of survivors to seek medical and legal assistance as
well as encourage reporting of GBV cases to the
police.
WLI has held a cultural competition with
the support of UNICEF in Basra governorate/ Maaqil
district/ Deyala School for boys on 4-7-2010 with
the attendance of 80 people.
Pupils were divided into two teems to
answer the questions that related to the violence
issue.

attendance of 60 people.

Students Painting exhibition in Basra
To ward deeper understanding to

participation of three local NGOs and the fund of
support of UNICEF.
The project aims at encouraging
families of survivors to seek medical and legal
assistance as well as encourage reporting of GBV
cases to the police.
WLI has organized an exhibition
for the pupil paintings in Arafat school for girls
in Maaqil district on June, 30, 2010 with the
attendance of 75 persons (men, women and pupils).
The exhibition includes more than 25 paintings drawn
by talent pupils.

WLI
has conducted a play titled (press conference) in"
Jordan school" for
Girls in (Maaqil) district with the attendance of
125 persons, the head of education committee of
Basra governorate council and Mr. Khalid Kadum
municipal council member of the Maaqil District.
After welcoming the attendances, WLI's
representative presented WLI's speech through which
she cleared the risks of the expanding of the GBV
phenomena and the necessity of coordinating the
efforts on all the levels, also she cleared the
project idea, the targeting areas, activities,
donors and the goals of implementing these
activities in Basra.

Basra
Celebration
Woman International Day 2010
Under the
slogan (( women of Iraq…. Are the hope of Iraq)),
WLIs Basra office hold a celebration on the
anniversary of woman day on the hall of Basra Trade
chamber with the attendance of 350 person. Media
that covered the event were: Alarabiya, Sharqiya,
Iraqiya, Baghdadiya, Akbar and Diyar newspapers.
Celebration
started by welcoming participants and distributing
flowers, then there was a photographic exhibition
that include different painting, representing woman
in all her images.
The
Director of WLI 's office in Basra made her speech
through which she mentioned the important role
played by Iraqi women. Some poems were presented
through the celebration.
WLI tried
through this event to shed light on some
distinguished women whom have played a distinguish
role common life.

Diala celebration
Woman International Day 2010
With the
support and fund of the UNFPA, WLI has hold a
celebration on the occasion of woman International
day in Diala on the twenty first of March 2010 with
the attendance of 79 person from different
categories.

With the
attendance of more than 75 persons, WLI has
organized a celebration on the anniversary of woman
International Day in Maysan
city on AL finoon hall
with the fund of UNFPA media covered the event:
ALrasheed, Bilady, Alsalam and Alahwar satellite
channels.
The
celebration started by WLI's speech, then a lecture
presented by mr. muhamed khairy about the Iraqi
woman status and the success she achieved through
building the new society.
The
celebration also includes the following activities:

Under the
care and support of UNFPA, WLI has organized a
celebration on the occasion of woman international
day in wasit / woman hall this event was attended by
75 person and covered by Bilady and Alsalam
Satellite channels.
The
celebration includes awarding group of distinguished
women, poetic dialogue and act play presented by
group of children.
