YWLA training session/ Dohuk

From Apr. 2nd to 24th of Apr, 2009, WLI implemented training sessions of Young Women Leadership Academy program. Many topics cover in these training sessions like: Time Skills Management, Women and Politics, Communication Skills, The Political System, Computer, and Journalism, Economical System in Iraq, Leadership skills, Human Rights, Gender and Sex, Negotiate Skills. Students express their happiness at the end of the training course wishing to have more courses of (YWLA), because, they became stronger, and more courageous. Each one gave his opinion about the training course, and the results were very good.

Finally, the girls proved that they are really well- trained to be leadership women, to have a promising future.

    

 

YWLA training session/ Basra

From Mar. 30th to 23rd of Apr, 2009, WLI/ Basra office implemented training sessions of Young Women Leadership Academy program, aims at creating leadership women in their position, support them and strengthen their capacities. The participants had courses in: Democratic principles, Islam and Democracy, Creative thinking, Iraq's constitution and federal system, How to deal with the media, Women and the law and many other subjects.

 

     

 

Training

 

  From the 21st of Jul. to the 17th of Aug. 2009, WLI conducted sixty one trainings about woman leadership capacity building, attended by approximately 1500 women, in most of the Iraqi provinces. The trainers talked about the representation of women in legislative councils and their determination to take the role of leaders and educators for generations at the same time, and the need to adopt the status of efficiency rather than the Quota in women’s representation because of its usefulness in the past experiences in terms of its presence in the parliament, provincial councils and district. After impotent topics have been submitted, the following recommendations have been reached:-

  1. The Need to maintain one opinion for the women which is the fact for the success of the feminist organizations.

  2. Establishing of an information system (visual and audio) to transfer the voice of women in particular to express the views of women and for the delivery of voice to public opinion to suit their needs.

  3. Woman is basic element in the society and must be supported and be focus on her and on her participation in state and society.

  4. Must focus on human development programs, which develops the efficiency extent of workers in the area of non-governmental organizations which is reflected on the volume of service provided by these organizations.

  5. Expand training to include more women due the importance of training’s topics.

  6. Activation of the Iraqi constitution, laws and the application of articles on the rights and freedoms and considered as a reference for the Iraqi State.

 

Workshops

  From the 22nd of Jul. to the 10th of Aug. 2009, WLI implemented workshops for 255 women about capacity-building of women's political parties, in most of Iraqi provinces. In these workshop, WLI aimed to improve communication between political parties, develop public relations skills and the trainer tried to motivate the participants to be the favorite kind of listener which is the focusing listener not the other two kind which they are the vigilant listener and superficial listener in order to success the communication process.

The trainer clarified the concept of leadership and its skills including the commitment and perseverance, knowledge and setting goals, patience and understanding of differences and coherence and persuasion and then talked about the leader's preferences by the review of the main advantages is the leader then addressed the types of leaders, and the rules of leadership and the features a good leader. The trainer divided the participants into work groups and they reach to the following recommendations:-

  1. Bring women's voices to the higher authorities through the feminist party is more secure and successful.
  2. The staff of women in the parties still lacks a lot of skills and competencies which need to be lifted.
  3. The necessity of activate women’s role in the parties through new fruitful methods.
  4. The success of women role as a leader in legislative councils in spites their few number and that’s need to legal and legislative roles to protect women existence in the making-decision positions.
