Candidates Training
During January, WLI conducted
several trainings for electoral candidates in:- Baghdad, Karbala,
Najaf, Deyala, Mosil, Wasit, Maysan, Babil, Nasriya, Dewaniya,
Samawa and Basrah.
The trainers talked about WLI’s
achievements in educating women for the coming provincial
councils’ elections and it aim to raise candidates awareness of
the manners to make them appropriate of being in decision making
positions, also clarified candidate personality and how the
candidate should be high educated and to be a good listener in
order to understand people needs then would be able to
convincing them of his message and then were trained for media
interviews and how to avoid mistakes and how to exercise
restraint and have diplomatic in speeches.
Recommendations:-
1. The importance of
focusing on the conference of political parties in raising
awareness of the lists of candidates for the sake of
transparency.
2. Ask the government to
apply the law in the definition and declaration of election
candidates.
3. The High Independent
Electoral Commission should focus on woman for her representing
the half of the society and that lead to achieve democracy.
Campaign Managers training
Through January, WLI conducted
training for campaign managers, in:- Karbala, Najaf, Baghdad,
Deyala, Mosil, Wasit, Maysan, Babil, Nasriya, Dewaniya, Samawa
and Basrah.
WLI aims in this trainings to
explain the concept of the political marketing, electoral
campaigns and the types and forms of electoral campaigns, as
well as elements of a successful electoral campaign and the role
of campaign’s manager in the success of the elections by giving
good picture to the voters on its programs and aspirations and
recruitment of all available means and methods through the
various channels of communication with voters.

Recommendations:-
1. Increasing such
exercises, which it do increase the efficiency of the candidates
in order to avoid the mistakes of the past stage.
2. Support and train
candidates and women and encourage them to take the real place
in the political process.
3. Everyone must
participate in the political process and the electoral process.
4. The High Independent
Electoral Commission must support the announcement of the
candidates’ lists.
