Seminar/Women
in the Islamic legislations…
Contemporary vision
March, 11,
2008
To clarify
the attitude of Islam from women, and to review the relationship
of Islamic and the ignorant society and knew the tradition
prevailing at the time, and the vision of Islamic legislation
for women, which was represented with justice and wisdom in the
cultural and social atmosphere ...But do these provisions mean a
stable and continuous legislation for ever?! Without any
change?!! , therefore WLI found that its important to discuss
that subject and debate on it to find out the status of women
in Islamic law and did the view on the rights and role of
different time and place change?.
We think
that obtaining an ideal society achieved by respecting women and
honoring and viewed with pride of their roles in the community,
there are many questions must be answered and great things to be
clarified during this work and this effort, which aspires to be
the positive results on the full understanding and perception,
but changing the habits of the community is not done unless we
use fixed arguments, including Quran verses which ensured on
the equality between men and women in the humanitarian and the
Islam ( as a religion) is like religions (perhaps most of them)
which urges the application of justice among the people and
rejects injustice, we see in these times that many of the
injustice and inequity reality for a lot of women come from
those vision that still wants to keep women in the age of
illiteracy, ignorance and forcible.
The
participants who attend the seminar were mainly from civil
society organizations and activists in the field of defending
women's rights and academics.

administration law also she talked about the representation of
women in the positions of making decisions(parliament,
governorate council) and the role of organizations in activating
women role thanking WLI for providing the opportunities to
discuss such important issues.
There was an open dialogue session and discussed the
following:
-
women work
in the council is limited for number of committees for
example the committee of the security, agriculture,
construction and relations. No women representation, as well
as Committees constituted to resolve the immediate crisis.
-
She also
clarified that there is a committee for women but without
real authorities and it didn’t serve women and it is
marginalized and formality committee.
-
There are a
limited number of governorate council members that attend
organizations activities and among 11 women in the Council
only 4 to 5 women attending these activities and this were
due to inefficiency and the inability to face the public.
-
Activist
women in CSO expect more effectively and efficiently roles
from the governorate council members in order to serve the
case of women and society and not to waste the gains that
women struggled for long periods.
-
In order to
achieve communication between women in decision-making
positions and other women, there are several mechanisms
which allocate day monthly to meet the women and hear
directly their problems, as well as activating the role of
women's organizations and women in the parties and become
the link between them.

the status of women before
2003 and how they were weak and banned from political activity
specially from the parliament and the governorate council ,then
she talked about the status of women after 2003 and the
democratic changing for the women who received political
positions and it was distinctive and difficult because they
didn't have the experience in undertaking such positions ,On
the other hand, the political men thought that women presence in
these locations is only to fill the election lists, which
required the representation of women at specified rates, but the
women were able to achieve an important achievement in some
leadership positions but still there are problems facing the
women advancement represented with lack of experiences , as well
as the problems of the communications and traveling which
restricts the movement of women very much.
