·       2 January 2006: Workshop Invitation

WLI's director Dr. Sundus Abass participated in a workshop titled (Initiatives of approaching constitutional human rights and new Legislations) with the careship of human rights Ministry and in cooperation with the international institute. The workshop dealt with the following topics:- 

1-   Making recommendations on approaching the rules and laws of human rights.

2-   The role of human rights legation.

3-   The role of human rights ministry after establishing human right legation.

4-   Extra laws or the required mechanism to insure applying the decisions of human rights that included in the constitution.

5-   Handing the recommendations to the representatives council in order to treat the issues of protecting human rights.

6-   Marking the shared role between the governmental institutions (human rights ministry and human rights legation) and civil society organizations as defenders on human rights.

 

 ·       4 January 2006: Meeting

WLI has conducted a meeting for it's facilitators on Wednesday January, 4 2006 headed by the engineer Maysoon Albadri because WLI's director was in Istanbul.

 

 ·       7 January 2006: Workshop

WLI has conducted a second session of the workshop [Protocol] in WLI's location with the participation of 51 males and females, the trainer was Mr. Muhammed Husham from the Iraqi Ministry of foreign affairs.

 

 ·       16 January 2006: Publishing 2006 Calendar

WLI has published the annual calendar of 2006.

 

 ·       17 January 2006: Business women committee invitation

According to an invitation from Business women Committee for the Bazar held in Mansour Hotel, WLI has sent two of its members Maysoon and Ahmed. All the Iraqi provinces have participated in the Bazar.

 

 ·       22 January 2006: Workshop in Sulaimaniya

WLI has conducted a workshop in Koya University in Koysenjuq / Sulaimaniya under the line [The new Iraqi constitution and the international agreements] with the participation of 35 students. This workshop aims at increasing the awareness of young women about the constitutional amendments.

 

 

 ·       23 January 2006: Olv Palma invitation Erbil

WLI's director has been invited by Olv Palma center to participate in the primary meting in Erbil with the participation of number of civil society organization.

 

 ·       23 January 2006: Workshop in the collage of Economy and Management / Erbil

WLI has conducted a workshop in Salahdin University concerning the youth role in the process of democratic building. 82 students participated in this workshop.

 

 ·       27 January 2006: Workshop in Kerbla

WLI has conducted a workshop in Kerbla in cooperation with Muslim Woman Committee under the line [Future Prospectations of civil society organizations role in Iraq]

 

 ·       16 – 20 February 2006: WLI's staff training in Istanbul

WLI's staff participated in a training organized by the IRI concerning campaign management and writing proposals.

 

 ·       28 February 2006: WLI's staff meeting

WLI's director has a meeting with her staff to talk about the future plans.

 

 ·       2 March 2006: Brainstorming session

In order to implement the program of improving and empowering political parties women in Iraq and to make it an active and impressive program that harmonize with the real needs of women, WLI has conducted a brainstorming session in its location with the participation of 20 women from different political parties. The session was headed by Dr. Sundus Abass.

 

 ·       4 March 2006: Workshop

Under the line [The role of civil society organization in achieving National Unity] WLI has conducted a workshop in WLI's location. 41 members of civil society organizations participated in this workshop. The agenda was as follows:-

    1. Lecture on the Iraqi experience of civil society organizations reality and prospectations / Dr. Sundus Abass.
    2. The participants were divided into three groups. The first group dealt with the role of religious institution in implementing the national unity. The second group dealt with the media while the third group dealt with the political institution in achieving national unity. At the end of the workshop there was a review for what have been discussed through the workshop.
