Women Leadership Institute

WLI is an independent non-governmental Iraqi organization that established on 2005, its location in Baghdad and it has two other branches in Basra and Erbil. WLI has an administrative body that holds meetings regularly to discus planning and future activities. Also WLI has facilitators working in all the Iraqi governorates to coordinate with other organizations and to implement WLI's activities in these governorates.

WLI is dealing with female leaders in governmental positions, political parties and civil society organization, also it deal with lots of specialists trainers and university masters in different fields, on the other hand WLI is submitting scientific consultation and training programs that hold outside Iraq

 

YWLA Training sessions

 

WLI conducted the last sessions of Women Leadership Academy program in Basrah. these sessions targeted thirty young women, students of different colleges in Basrah, providing knowledge about many important issues help them to take their role in the society.

WLI'S Director in alive radio program regarding the issue of trafficking people

 

With an invitation from Shafaq station in Baghdad, WLI'S director, Dr. Sundus Abass has been hosted in a one – hour episode on April, 5, 2010. The moderator was Essra Shawas.

Through the program, Dr. Sundus talked about the issue of trafficking people, its risks and means to stop it.                                                  

 

 

 

Awarding

 

Baghdad Women Association has hold an awarding celebration for three leader women of the women movement who presented distinguish services for the Iraqi women.

The ladies are: Hana Adwer, Iraqi Amal Association secretary, Sundus Abass, WLI's Director, Barwen Muhamed Amen general deputy of the NGO institute. This awarding was an appreciation for their fruitful efforts to serve the woman movement.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Conferences

 

On the occasion of the 54th session of the CSW at the United Nations- New York aiming at tracking progress of conditions of women in the context of the Beijing platform for Action 15 years after it was announced in 1995.

The conference was attended by Ms. Sundus Abbas Women's Leadership Institute and Ms. Khanum Lateef from Asuda and Ms. Liza Nissan of Baghdad Women's Association.
